May 19 vs. Cobden – Regional Championship
The softball Lady Blackcats captured their second straight regional crown by shutting out Cobden, 7-0, at Elverado last Saturday. Goreville had advanced to the title game by defeating Elverado on Tuesday of last week, by the score of 6-0, as Sydnee Rushing pitched a complete game no-hitter.

The Lady Cats now move on to the Cobden sectional where they are set to play Marissa today (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m., with the championship contest scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. Goreville’s record is now 30-4.

Against the Lady Appleknockers, Rushing pitched the entire game, giving up two hits and boosting her record to 18-4. A six run third inning gave Goreville all the scoring they would need, the big blow being a bases loaded double by Alison Webb to drive in three of those runs. Taylor Odom closed out the scoring with her 20th home run of the season in the fourth inning. Goreville had seven hits and committed no errors.

Top hitters for Goreville: Darnell 1-3; Miller 1-3; Odom 2-3 (HR, RBI); Rushing 1-3 (RBI); Webb 1-3 (3 RBI’s).
