Blackcat Volleyball competes in Trico Tourney

The Goreville High School volleyball squad competed in the Trico invitational tournament last week.

On Tuesday, the Lady Blackcats defeated Marissa-Coulterville 21-17, 21-10, then lost to Steeleville in three sets, 9-21, 21-18, 21-19. In those two matches, Alison Webb had 25 kills and three blocks, while Ellen Wilkie had 16 kills.  Kaylee Webb had 31 assists and four kills.

On Wednesday, the Lady Cats lost matches to Trico (21-10, 17-21, 21-18) and Sparta (21-9, 21-14), before returning to the win column with a victory over Chester on Thursday, by the scores of 21-9, 21-14. Alison Webb notched seven kills, while Kaylee Webb had a kill and two five assists. Hannah Murley added a kill and two aces.

Goreville plays at Christopher this Thursday, then at Elverado next Tuesday.  The Lady Cats’ next home match is Thursday (Oct. 4) with Chester.
