Freshman Blackcat takes third in first run of season

Goreville JV Blackcat cross-country runner Madison Arnold poses with cross-county coach Mark Patterson after taking third place at the Murphysboro Invitational Wednesday, Aug. 29. Patterson said there were up to 70 runners in Arnold’s race, while on the boys side, Varsity Blackcat Zeke Snell placed 19th with a time of 18:50 out of 104 class A runners. The Invitational in Murphysboro was the first meet of the season for the Blackcats and this was Arnold’s first race as a high school cross-country runner. ~ photo courtesy Tina Andros
