Lady Cats to conclude regular season play Friday

Goreville Blackcat Alison Webb puts a final point on the board in the first match against Sesser-Valier High School Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Goreville helping to win the match 25-20. The Blackcats went on to defeat Sesser-Valeir in the second match as well, 25-17, and won the set.

Last Monday, the Goreville High School volleyball team lost to Christopher, 26-24, 20-25, 25-8, in a match played at Goreville.  Alison Webb had 14 kills and Ellen Wilkie added six kills, while Kaylee Webb had four kills and 12 assists for the Lady Cats.

In last week’s action, Goreville defeated Sesser-Valier in two sets Wednesday night at Goreville, 25-20, 25-17. Kaylee Webb had 15 assists, while Ellen Wilkie had 10 digs and Alison Webb had nine kills.

Last Friday, the Lady Cats picked up a win at Cobden in three sets, 25-20, 20-25, 25-13. Ellen Wilkie had 12 kills and Alison Webb added 10 kills.  Kaylee Webb dished out 22 assists, while Madison Sopczak had 12 service points.

The Lady Cats conclude their regular season this Friday with a match at Zeigler-Royalton. Goreville is the #2 seed in the Carrier-Mills regional and will play their first match on Tuesday (Oct. 23) against host Carrier-Mills at 7 p.m.
