Lady Cats dominate Carmi

Last Thursday, the Goreville High School girl’s basketball squad improved its season record to 10-0 with a 67-35 win over Carmi, at Goreville. Up next for the Lady Cats is the Benton Holiday tournament, December 27-29.

Goreville was ahead 16-7 after the first quarter.  Taylor Odom opened the second period with a lay-up and a three point play.  Alison Webb followed with two free throws to push Goreville’s lead to 23-7 with just under five minutes left in the frame. The Lady Cats led 38-15 at halftime.  Goreville sealed the win in the third quarter as they outscored the Lady Bulldogs 19-8, to increase their lead to 57-23 by the start of the final period.

Alison Webb led Goreville with 22 points, while Emma Bachman topped the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points.

Carmi won the JV contest, by the score of 20-15.

On Tuesday of last week, the Lady Blackcats jumped out to a big lead and never looked back as they defeated Chester, 86-34, in a BDC match-up. Alison Webb was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points. Haley Darnell with 17 points, and Allison Sullivan with 10 points, also hit double figures for Goreville.
