Jr. Lady Cats advance to State semi-finals

The Goreville Junior High girl’s basketball team picked up a 49-26 win over Pinckneyville in the Junior Lady Cats’ opening round game at the state tournament at Rend Lake College last Friday.  With the win  Goreville advanced to the semi-finals, where they were to play Gallatin County on Tuesday.  A victory in that contest puts Goreville into the championship game set for this Friday at 7:30 p.m.  The third place game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Goreville led 25-13 at the half, then increased the margin to 34-19 going into the fourth quarter.  Cassandra Jones led the Junior Lady Cats with 16 points.
