Goreville football player commits to Millikin

Goreville Senior Caleb Belcher of has indicated he plans to attend Millikin University and play football for Big Blue Head Coach Patrick Etherton, the university announced this week.

An Honor Roll student at Goreville High School, Belcher plans to major in Athletic Training at Millikin.

“We are excited that Caleb has decided to continue his education and football career at Millikin University,” said Coach Etherton.

Belcher earned three varsity letters in football for Goreville High School. He was a running back, quarterback and safety in for the Vienna-Goreville Eagles. As a senior, he rushed for 781 yards and three touchdowns. On defense he had 45 tackles and five interceptions.

Etherton is looking for several talented recruits to join Millikin’s solid group of returning players. Entering his third season, Etherton is determined to return Millikin to its winning tradition and bring excitement to Big Blue football. Located in Decatur, Ill., Millikin University is one of the nation’s leading institutions of performance-based learning.
