The Goreville Village board of trustees recently approved financing to conduct a three-day, citywide cleanup to begin Sept. 6 and run through Sept. 8, with dumpsters available across the street from the fire department.

Dumping is allowed between the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is available to the residents of Goreville.

“This service is for residents within the Village of Goreville only,” the Village announced. “You must receive a water bill from the Village of Goreville to be eligible for this service.”

The village will have three 30-yard dumpsters placed in the parking lot across the street from the village hall/fire department building and will have personnel on hand to ensure those using the dumpsters qualify.

“Personnel will be on hand to compare your name with the village billing register,” the village said.

Most everything that qualifies for dumping under regular trash-removal circumstances is available to be dumped during the citywide cleanup. Carpet or floor coverings must be cut in to four-foot length and tied in rolls. Prohibited items include yard waste, tires, chemicals, paint and anything normally prohibited in landfills.
