Stuff the Bus program coordinator Shirley Goins accepted a check on behalf of the program from the Village of Goreville Freedom Fest committee in the amount of $784.03 Saturday afternoon at the United Methodist Church.

Freedom Fest committee member Jason Beckmann said last year’s donation was largely made up of school supplies donated through the Freedom Fest Car Show’s participants as a portion of their entry fee.

Stuff the Bus has played a pivotal role in helping to supply the school children of Goreville with everything from crayons to binders since its inception five years ago.  The program has grown from its original intent to supply grade schoolers to now include helping supply high schoolers.

Goins recently said that when the program started it planned to operate for only five years, adding, “But, as long as we continue to receive support and have interest in it, we’ll keep it going.”
