Junior High Lady Cats claim Conference title

The Jr.High girls Softball team defeated Jonesboro Saturday, 18-3 to win the Conference Championship at Shawnee School. This is the first Conference title for the program since 2009. Coach Goins said the team is playing great and the unity on and off the field makes this win special. Goreville improved its record to 17-3. The Goreville Junior High softball team swept the field at the S.I.C. Tournament last week to win the conference tourney for the first time since 2009.

The Junior Lady Blackcats defeated Jonesboro in the championship contest on Saturday, by the score of 18-3. Cheyenne Walker pitched for Goreville to pick up the win and also contributed a pair of hits. Katy Schuetz had two hits, while Macy Goins led the way with three hits and six RBIs.

Goreville reached the title game by beating Cobden, 13-1, in the semi-finals. Macy Goins, Kaitlynn Moore and Cheyenne Walker paced Goreville with two hits each.

The Junior Lady Blackcats opened tourney play with a 13-0 first round victory over Egyptian. Cheyenne Walker tossed a no-hitter and recorded 15 strikeouts. Macy Goins had two hits, while Katy Schuetz, Hannah Link and Hollie Link each had hits for Goreville.
