Junior Lady Cats win doubleheader

In Goreville Junior High softball action last week, the Junior Lady Blackcats defeated Anna on Wednesday, by the score of 12-0.  Macy Goins hit a pair of home runs for Goreville and Cheyenne Walker pitched her second no-hitter of the season, recording nine strikeouts.

Last Friday, the Junior Lady Blackcats won both games of a doubleheader at Goreville.  In the first contest, Goreville blanked Shawnee 12-0 as Macy Goins, Sam Licka, and Hannah Link all hit homeruns.  The Junior Lady Blackcats defeated Century in the second game, by the score of 13-0.  Macy Goins, Hollie Link and Katy Schuetz had two hits each to lead Goreville.

On Saturday, Goreville competed in the Harrisburg round robin tournament, where Pinckneyville beat the Junior Lady Blackcats 5-3 in the first game.  Macy Goins had three hits, while Hannah Link and Katy Schuetz each had a hit for Goreville.  Goreville returned to the win column in the second contest by defeating Hardin County 16-3.  In the third game, host Harrisburg pulled out an 8-3 win over Goreville.  Shayna Elms, Macy Goins, Hannah Link, and Katy Schuetz all hit safely for the Junior Lady Blackcats, while Cheyenne Walker recorded 11 strikeouts.  Goreville now has a 13-3 season mark.
