Goreville resident Joe Martin said he is ready to ride in the Sixth Annual Tour de Hope, which is set for Sept. 28, 2013.

Goreville resident Joe Martin said he is ready to ride in the Sixth Annual Tour de Hope, which is set for Sept. 28 and takes riders from downtown Marion and out into the surrounding countryside helping to raise operating funds for the Hands of Hope clinic in Marion.  The clinic counts on the Tour de Hope to help fund its services as it is ecumenically founded and prays with its patients, excluding it from federal and state grants because of this and relies heavily on the good will of others.  Each year the Tour increases in numbers with approximately 80 to 100 riders joining together to help the Hands of Hope.  “I really enjoy helping other people,” Martin said.  In the past, Martin has rated among the top fund raisers bringing in more than $1,000 just last year.  Martin said he is still collecting for this year’s ride and those wishing to participate may contribute by dropping off a donation for “Joe” at Goreville Region’s Bank.  Martin said he is excited about the coming Tour as he has been riding every day for months now preparing for it.
