Lady Blackcats finish tourney 3-1

Last Saturday, the Goreville High School volleyball team finished play at the Thompsonville tournament with a 3-1 record.

The Lady Blackcats beat Thompsonville in three sets, then defeated Gallatin County and Carrier Mills in two sets each, before losing to Wayne County in two sets.

Cheyenne Reynolds (11 kills, 1 ace), McKenzi Schaede (11 kills, 6 aces), and Madison Sopczak (27 assists, 5 aces) were named to the all-tourney team.

The Lady Blackcats defeated Chester in two sets last Thursday at Goreville, 25-20, 25-15. Ashlynn Darnell had eight kills, McKenzi Schaede had six kills, and Madison Sopczak handed out 13 assists.

On Tuesday of last week, Goreville notched a win over Elverado in three sets at Goreville.

The Lady Blackcats dropped the first set 21-25, then rallied for victories in the next two sets, 25-9, 25-23, to win the match.

McKenzi Schaede served up six aces and had four kills, while Ashlynn Darnell also had four kills, along with five aces. Madison Sopczak had 12 assists and contributed three aces for Goreville.
