Lady Cats prepare for Volleyball Regionals

The Goreville High School volleyball team picked up a conference win on Wednesday of last week, as the Lady Blackcats defeated Sesser-Valier in three sets at Sesser.  McKenzi Schaede had eight kills, Madison Sopczak had six aces and handed out 15 assists, and Ashlynn Darnell had four blocks for Goreville.

Last Monday (Oct. 21), the Lady Blackcats lost a two set match at Christopher, 25-16, 25-14.  McKenzi Schaede had eight kills, while Madison Sopczak had 10 assists to lead Goreville.

The Lady Blackcats wind up regular season play this Friday with a home match against Zeigler-Royalton.  Goreville is set to play in next week’s Carrier Mills regional tournament, with the Lady Blackcats first match on Tuesday (Oct. 29) against. either Gallatin County or Joppa at 7 p.m.  A win in that match puts Goreville into the regional championship contest on Thursday at 6 p.m.
