Vienna-Goreville falls hard to Carmi-White County

Last Saturday at Vienna, the V-G football Eagles lost to Carmi-White County by the score of 36-8. The loss puts V-G’s record at 4-3 with two games remaining.

The Bulldogs took an 8-0 lead when they scored on an 11 yard touchdown pass and run for the PAT with 8:22 left in the opening quarter.

They added three more touchdowns in the second period to hold a 30-0 halftime advantage, then scored their final touchdown on a long run in the third quarter.

Connor Seavers tallied V-G’s lone touchdown on a one yard run at the 6:13 mark of the fourth quarter. Kyefer Cavins ran for the two point conversion to make the final score.

The Eagles had 146 yards on the ground, with Seavers (88 yards) and Cavins (50 yards) leading the way. Christian Dahncke completed three passes for 27 yards, giving V-G a total of 173 yards of total offense.

Up next for the V-G varsity: Saturday (Oct. 19) at Christopher, with kick-off at 12 noon. The sophomore squad will host Christopher on Monday (Oct. 21), at 4:30 p.m.
