The Goreville High School Blackcats are set to kick-off the season with their second annual Goreville Invitational starting Monday evening, Dec. 2 with the Blackcats taking on the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats.

The Invitational includes teams from Benton, Egyptian and Johnston City with the first game Monday night scheduled to begin at 6:15 between Benton and Egyptian.  The Blackcats are scheduled to tip off at 7:45 following the first game.

“We are excited once again on hosting our own invitational,” Goreville High School athletic director and head coach Todd Tripp said.  “It should be a well balanced tournament this year and it is a good test for us to start the season.”

The Invitational continues Tuesday evening with match ups between Egyptian verses A.J. and Johnston City verses Benton.  Goreville returns to the floor Thursday to take on Egyptian with a game time of 6:15.  The full schedule is included in this week’s Gazette.

“The boys have been working hard since we began practices and we’re ready to get the season started,” Tripp added.
