Goreville football players named All-Conference

Four Goreville High School athletes have been named to the Black Diamond Conference, All-Conference football team with two honorable mentions.   Goreville’s Dallas Melot, Kyefer Cavins and Austyn Frassato were named 1st Team, All-Conference and Connor Seavers was named 2nd Team, All-Conference. The awards program for the 2013 Vienna-Goreville High School football team was held last Thursday at Vienna High School.  Members of the cheer leading squad and football team were introduced and recognized for their participation and accomplishments.

Tina Colson introduced this year’s football cheerleaders.  She pointed out the hard work that everyone involved with the squad had put in to prepare for the season.

Assistant coaches Brian Trambley and Chris Snyder introduced this season’s JV football team.  It was noted that this was coach Snyder’s final season with the Eagles and he was recognized and commended for his nearly 13 years of involvement with both the high school and youth league football programs.

Coach Mike Rude thanked the V-G booster club and administrations for their support.  He introduced this season’s varsity squad and highlighted some of the team’s and individual players’ achievements.

Those named to the Black Diamond All-Conference Team were: Austyn Frassato, Jacob Hosier, Brandon Pyle, Connor Seavers, Kyefer Cavins, Dallas Melot.

Those named to the All-Southern Illinois Team were: Connor Seavers, Kyefer Cavins, Dallas Melot.  Dallas Melot also received All-State Class 3A honorable mention for both football and academics.

Team awards went to: Jamie Paisley and Blake Crain-Eagle Award; Dallas Melot-Defensive MVP; Kyefer Cavins-Offensive MVP; Connor Seavers-Team MVP.
