Junior High girls defeat West Frankfort in overtime

On Tuesday of last week, the Goreville Junior High girl’s basketball team picked up a 55-53 overtime win at West Frankfort.  Goreville trailed 38-30 after three quarters, but the Junior Lady Blackcats rallied to tie it at 49-49 at the end of the fourth period.  Goreville outscored West Frankfort 6-4 in the extra frame to make the final score.

Scoring for Goreville: Elms-20; Pulley-12; Forby-8; Schuetz-7; Stout-5; Sopczak-3.

Goreville’s JV squad improved to 6-0 with a 36-17 win over West Frankfort.

Last Thursday, Goreville improved its season record to 10-2 with a 64-37 home win over Cobden.  The Junior Lady Blackcats took control early as they led 16-6 after the first period and 33-14 at halftime.

Scoring for Goreville: Elms-18; Pulley-10; Schuetz-10; Stout-10; Sopczak-9; Ray-4; S. Licka-2; Forby-1.

Goreville’s JV won by the score of 43-18.

Goreville Junior High girls Blackcats defeated Egyptian 52-38 at home Monday, Nov. 25, 2013.

Goreville defeated Egyptian last Monday by the score of 52-38, in a game played at Goreville.  The Junior Lady Blackcats took an 18-6 first quarter lead, then increased the margin to 29-12 at the half and they remained in control the rest of the way.

Scoring for Goreville: Elms-25; Herren-8; Stout-8; Pulley-4; Arnold-2; Forby-2; Pruitt-2; Schuetz-1.

Goreville’s JV team remained undefeated with a 54-16 win over Egyptian.
