Lady Cats off to 2-1 start

The Goreville High School girl’s basketball team lost at Eldorado last Thursday, by the score of 48-44.  Goreville trailed 36-18 at the half.  Eldorado was ahead 43-28 after the third quarter, but the Lady Blackcats outscored the hosts 16-5 in the fourth period to get within the final margin.

Haley Darnell topped all scorers with 22 points, while Eldorado was led by Taylor Goodley’s 17 points.

Last Monday night, the Lady Blackcats improved their record to 2-1 with a 62-50 win over Trico at Goreville.  Goreville was ahead 35-29 at halftime, then outscored the Lady Pioneers 20-10 in the third quarter to take control at 55-39 heading into the final period.  Goreville’s Haley Darnell led all scorers with 26 points, while Prang had 18 points for Trico.
