Jr. Lady Cats finish second at regional

The Goreville Junior High girls’ basketball team moved into the 2014 SIJHSAA Girls Class M Basketball Regional championship contest by defeating Zeigler-Royalton on Wednesday of last week, by the score of 56-14.  Goreville jumped out to a 20-2 first quarter lead, then kept a big lead the rest of the way.

Scoring for Goreville: Pulley-13; Herren-8; Schuetz-8; Elms-6; Stout-6; Payne-3; Arnold-2; Forby-2; Goins-2; S. Licka-2; Pruitt-2; Ray-2.

On Saturday, the Junior Lady Blackcats ended their season with a 50-32 loss to Unity Point in the regional title game.
