Junior Blackcats battle to buzzer to beat Sesser 29-27

The Goreville Junior High School boys’ basketball team won its opening round game at the 2014 SIJHSAA Boys Class M State tournament held at Rend Lake College last Friday, defeating Sesser by the score of 29-27.

It was a buzzer-beater game as each team traded the lead more than once.

The win moved the Junior Blackcats into a semi-final contest with Fairfield, which was to be played Tuesday.

The championship game is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m., with the third place game beginning at 6 p.m.

Scoring for Goreville: Webb-22; Massey-5; Dunn-1; Frassato-1.
