IMG_20140519_090057_764Congratulations to the Goreville Blackcats Boys Track Team for their good showing at the Conference meet in Chester on Monday, May 19.

Dash runner, Zeke Snell grabbed 1st Place in the 400 meter dash at the meet.  Kyle Kinder made a record breaking performance in the high jump by taking a 2nd place with a Goreville High School new record jump of 6 ft.  In the long jump, Goreville’s Nathan Miner won a 3rd place with a jump of 19 ft , 7 in., only five inches of the Goreville school record.

History was also made last Friday, May 16, by the Goreville Girls Track team at the Carterville Sectional meet.

The girls 800 meter won 2nd, thereby advancing to the State meet at Charleston, on Thursday, May 22.

This is first time in Goreville High School history that any of the girls track teams have ever qualified for state competition.

Congratulations to coach Mark Patterson and the relay team of Roxanne Thompson, Sarah McLain, Madison Sopczak and Jasmine Luna.
