Goreville fire department holds controlled burn

Fire2What at first looked like a major out-of-control house fire was actually a controlled burn conducted by the Goreville Fire Department.

As part of a training exercise on Saturday, July 26, volunteers from the local fire department executed a controlled burn on a house and adjacent structure belonging to Kaye (Perry) McCoy on Friendship Loop just outside of Goreville. The house was well over 100 years old but Kay said she does not intend to build any kind of new structure there. The burn went smoothly and even though there was a little wind, the fire fighting team kept things well under control.

He intends to continue his training so that after he reaches 18 years of age and has completed all his training he can proudly say he can begin his life-long dream job.
